Anna Mould

Anna Mould is a Sydney artist who lives and works on Gadigal, Wangal and Dharug land. Anna works across media including painting, drawing, collage, photography, textiles, weaving and machine embroidery. She has exhibited and performed curatorial roles in a number of group exhibitions, some of which have toured nationally. While a student in her second year of art school, Anna was selected as a finalist for the Dobell Drawing Prize #22. Anna graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art majoring in Painting from National Art School in 2021 and a Master of Fine Art in 2023.

Anna Mould’s practice investigates how more than one ‘truth’ or perspective may be represented or referenced within an artwork. Motivated by a frustrated fascination with the current global climate of political polarisation, the artist portrays multiple, simultaneous, and seemingly paradoxical realities through the layering of images, motifs, aesthetics and materials whose cultural associations may be seen to contradict one another. These opposing realities relate to masculine and feminine tropes, the cultural values of painting versus textiles, the decorative and the sublime, the traditional and contemporary, digital and analogue, visibility and invisibility, body and landscape, and power and powerlessness.
