SARA MORAWETZ Castlemaine State Festival 2019

As part of the Castlemaine State Festival this year, Sara Morawetz will be exhibiting two works in the Old Castlemaine Hospital. Her subtle and optical new work ‘An Index of Arbitrary Measures [in actions // as objects]’ combines five views that test and toy with the methodological processes of observing action. Also on show is ‘Things that Use to Measure that Now Only Measure Each Other’, a collection of sanded back wooden rulers that prompt a consideration of how observation, measurement and standardisation operate on both a scientific and cultural level. The Castlemaine State Festival opens TOMORROW Friday 22 March with spaces across the city activated by art, dance, music, film, food and a program of talks.
