Locust Jones has been selected as a finalist in the 10th Parkin Drawing Prize for his film ‘isolation is bad for business’. Established by Chris Parkin, the prize is Aotearoa New Zealand’s premier award for drawing and promotes drawing in all forms alongside the “spirit of invention, risk and discovery that is fundamental to making art.”
Locust’s selected work features hundreds of small drawings photographed at 24 frames per second using an animation software. The sound is a live recording with the artist on vocals accompanied by two drummers, Tim Bruniges and Darren Seltmann.
The Parkin Drawing Prize exhibition will also be held at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts from 2.08. – 11.09.22.
