Julian Day upcoming Projects in the Barossa Valley and on ABC’s Radio National

June 27, 2019

Julian Day will be presenting a live performance piece at Barossa Regional Gallery, on Sunday 14 July. ‘Super Critical Mass’ is an ongoing participatory sound project which now invites the Barossa community to create a huge collaborative work that speaks to the region’s people, history and sense of place. ‘Super Critical Mass’ examines how the cultural forces of the community come together as participants gather to create monochromatic sound fields using identical sound sources, such as bowls, coins and bells. Featuring the historical 1875 Hill & Son pipe organ, which has been restored over a 20-year-period, the performance forms part of an ongoing project which began in the Barossa Valley in 2018 and now continues toward a major outcome to be unveiled in 2020.

Julian will also be guest hosting ABC Radio National’s The Music Show for the first three weekends of July. Throughout these weekly segments, Julian will be featuring discussions with special guests interviewed in New York and surrounds. The program is Australia’s premier national interview program on music that covers all genres of music from Handel to hip-hop, plainsong to punk. Julian’s shows will be aired on Saturdays and Sundays at 11AM, starting 06.07. and continuing each weekend, until 21.07.19.
