EMMA FIELDEN ‘Care Structures’ at M16 Artspace

September 27, 2023

Emma Fielden’s video work ‘Axis Mundi: Drawing Down the Moon’ is being exhibited in ‘Care Structures’ at M16 Artspace, Canberra from 28.09 to 22.10.23. The group show features works that “are quiet and subtle, intending to form a contemplative space and suing abstraction to prompt consideration of time, thought, labour and the human condition.” Emma’s work ‘Axis Mundi’ was shown at DMG in the 2021 exhibition ‘The Grateful Exit‘.

Emma Fielden’s minimalist sensibility is coupled with a sensitive approach to materials that culminates in studied meditations on the nature of infinity, the universe and our human place in it. Her work sits at the meeting point between science and poetics, taking form through installation, sculpture, drawing and performance. She stretches philosophies of infinite divisibility and coalescence across scales, alluding to the collision of galaxies through the merging of drawn lines.
