VEDIKA RAMPAL Finalist in the 69th Blake Prize at the Liverpool Powerhouse

Vedika Rampal has been announced as a finalist in the 69th Blake Prize for her work ‘inscription against inscription’. The 69th Blake Prize will be exhibited at Liverpool Powerhouse from 02.05. – 14.06.26, with the official launch taking place on Friday 1 May 2026 from 5–8pm.

Established in 1951, the Blake Art Prize has long challenged artists to engage with ideas of spirituality and religion through contemporary practice. As one of Australia’s most enduring art awards, it continues to provide a platform for artists whose work reflects on faith, belief, ritual and the metaphysical within a contemporary context.

Vedika’s finalist work, inscription against inscription, draws on recurring visits to Hampi in Karnataka, India – an ancient site of ruins layered with imperial, mythological and religious histories. Through suspended copper sheets, residual image transfers and the projected figure of Nandi beside the Tungabhadra River, the installation contemplates re-inscription, material temporality and the possibility of a counter-colonial gesture within the museum context.
