‘I Put It Here So You Could Find It’, was shown at the Melbourne Art Fair in 2018. This photographic work echoes the deeply felt gestures of her abstract paintings, drawn from a film of the artist on the beach in Newcastle. Through painting, video and performance, Consalvo tries to capture or suspend moments of psychological rise and fall. ‘I Put It Here So You Could Find It’ is from a body of work that is driven by a feeling of moving towards the horizon line, but never arriving.
Lottie Consalvo is a Melbourne-born, Newcastle-based artist whose abstract paintings, video and performance works are well-respected for their strength of character.
