PETA CLANCY ‘Melbourne Now’ at NGV

October 20, 2024

Peta Clancy has been selected as one of the artists who will be exhibited in Melbourne Now 2023 at the NGV, Ian Potter Centre, Federation Square, from 24.03. – 20.08.23. Peta has been commissioned to create a new photographic installation for the photography exhibition ‘Slippery Images’ curated by Maggie Finch, Curator of Photography for Melbourne Now.

Melbourne Now celebrates new and ambitious local art and design, including over 60 world-premier new works and commissions by emerging, mid-career and senior practitioners, as well as local collectives. It will cross a range of contemporary disciplines, including fashion and jewellery, painting, sculpture, architecture, ceramics, video, performance, printmaking and publishing. The exhibition will mark the ten-year anniversary of the inaugural 2013 show, which was an unprecedented survey of local contemporary practitioners.

Bold in scale and scope, Melbourne Now will display the work of more than 200 Victorian-based artists, designers, and studios throughout all levels of The Ian Potter Centre, NGV Australia. Read more.

Peta installation has been highlighted in Gina Fairley’s exhibition review in Artshub. She writes: “I am compelled to mention a number of other standout works … Peta Clancy’s ‘Confluence’ (divulging narratives of place where the Merri Creek and the Birrarung meet).” She has also been featured in the March-April edition of the NGV Magazine:
