PETA CLANCY AND JON CATTAPAN ‘The City Wakes, The City Sleeps’ at TarraWarra Museum of Art

Peta Clancy and Jon Cattapan are featured in the major group exhibition ‘The City Wakes, The City Sleeps’ at TarraWarra Museum of Art, on show until 01.03.26.

Curated by Dr Victoria Lynn and James Lynch, the exhibition draws from the TarraWarra Museum of Art Collection to present over forty rarely exhibited works by more than 25 Australian artists, examining how artists across different eras have captured the architecture, rhythms, and social dynamics of urban life. The exhibition is organised across nine thematic scenes, offering a layered exploration of the city as both a built and lived environment.

The exhibition opens with Birrarung ba brungergalk by Peta Clancy (Yorta Yorta), a significant work originally commissioned for The Soils Project (2023), which foregrounds the cultural and environmental significance of the Birrarung and its tributaries prior to urban development.
