Lottie Consalvo has been selected as a finalist in the Paddington Art Prize with the work ‘The Seas End’. The Paddington Art Prize is an acquisitive award for paintings inspired by the Australian landscape.
Art critic Sebastian Smee has described Consalvo’s paintings as embodying an idea of the inner self that is “a rumoured lake in a forgotten forest, a living body of water which no-one has seen for years.” Her work often hints at natural phenomena like the expanse of the sea, the horizon line, or great heights. It is the memory or conjuring of these things that she paints with sweeping gestures and monumental forms.
The winner will be announced at the opening on 29 October. Read more about the art prize here.
