Locust Jones, ’24:7 newstainment cycle, states of hysteria’, 2019, lithograph, edition of 10 +1AP, 32 x 48.5 cm

August 15, 2019

Locust Jones has been selected as a finalist for the Hazelhurst Art on Paper Award for his work 'Running Out of Time'. Continuing his recent experimentation with light boxes, this work involves multiple layers of glassine paper and spectral ink drawings that further his signature collision of words and images from the daily news cycle. With prize money totalling $26,000, the Award showcases outstanding art created with, on, or about paper. In the words of artist and writer Justin Trendall, "the lines that have been extending themselves out across the surface of [Locust's] drawings for many years now ... retain a signature rawness." The Award launch and announcement of the winning artists will be held from 6PM on 20.09.1 at Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Arts Centre
