JULIAN DAY ‘Sounds Like’ at Hawthorn Town Hall Gallery

May 11, 2019

Julian Day will be featured in the upcoming group exhibition ‘Sounds Like’, on show at Town Hall Gallery in Hawthorn, Melbourne between 11 May – 30 June. The exhibition will feature five Australian artists who utilise sound as the principal vehicle for the production of meaning in their works. Through immersive installation, sculpture and performance, this interactive exhibition explores the use of sound as a medium for artistic expression.

On Sunday 5 May, Julian Day joined nine other Columbia University Visual Arts MFA candidates and recent alumni to present new video, sound, performance, and installation-based artworks at the Jewish Museum in New York City. Each work was created in response to their current exhibition ‘Leonard Cohen: A Crack In Everything’, paying tribute to the  musician’s melancholy and urgent observations on the state of the human heart.
