JULIAN DAY nominated for Art Music Awards 2020

August 27, 2020

Julian Day has been named as a finalist for the 2020 Art Music Awards in the Work of the Year – Choral category for ‘A Civic Space’, which was brought to life by community musicians from the Barossa as part of AGSA’s ‘Monster Theatres’ program. Hosts APRA AMCOS has said that this year is “without question the most vibrant and surprising line-up of shortlisted artists, works and performances in the history of the Awards.”  Nominees include the talented Cathy Milliken, Ross Edwards, Cat Hope, Brett Dean, Gelareh Pour and Zubin Kanga.

Day’s work ‘A Civic Space’ was performed at the Barossa Regional Gallery in July 2019, with support from Country Arts SA, the Barossa Council, and Regional Development Australia Barossa Gawler Light & Adelaide Plains. The work was made possible by facilitator Leah Blankendaal, Art Gallery of South Australia curator Leigh Robb, and all the performers from the Barossa.
