JANET LAURENCE and LOCUST JONES in ‘critical mass: the art of planetary health’ at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre

September 25, 2020

Janet Laurence and Locust Jones are participating in the highly-anticipated group show ‘critical mass: the art of planetary health’ at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre, opening 3 October 2020. Laurence’s major vitrine installation from the Art Gallery of NSW Collection ‘Memory of nature’ will sit alongside Jones’ strident 10-metre scroll work. The exhibition encompasses works by Australia’s most significant 20th century and contemporary artists alongside collaborations by artist-activists and social change leaders, who are driving the conversation around new and more sustainable practices relating to our environment, food, energy, and resource sharing. Based on the principles of Planetary Health, ‘critical mass’ examines the relationships between ecological, economic and social change, and explores new modes of living needed to restore and stabilise our planet and to ensure the health and wellbeing of future generations.

‘critical mass: the art of planetary health’ runs 3 October – 6 December 2020 at the Blue Mountains City Art Gallery. Read more about the exhibition here.
