July 7, 2024

Janet Laurence’s work ‘Breath of the Forest’ will be showcased in the major exhibition ‘Above the Canopy’ at Town Hall Gallery in Hawthorn, Victoria, from  9.07. – 24.09.22. The show positions nature as a driving inspirational force through which its multi-disciplinary exhibiting artists capture the natural world’s awe-inspiring grandeur and beauty with a deep appreciation, while exploring concerns for climate action and the need to protect the planet for future generations.

Janet’s installation ‘Breath of the Forest’ features 11 suspended silk veils overlaid with images of animals and trees, including old growth forests in Tasmania. The work embodies the fragile transience of natural habitats and facilitates a direct dialogue between humankind and their world through a theatrical, immersive environment, further highlighting the interconnections between life and the world. Read more.
