‘Guns to Roses’ reopens at the Maitland Regional Art Gallery

July 1, 2020

Maitland Regional Art Gallery’s exuberant group show ‘Gun to Roses’ has officially re-opened, featuring major works by Li Hongbo and Locust Jones. works by ‘Gun No 1’ by Li Hongbo and ‘Brainfog’ by Locust Jones.

“‘Guns to Roses’ is an exhibition full of beauty and colour with artists deconstructing and diffusing reminders of violence, man-made and natural disasters, and our own mortality in order to entice audiences to look closer and provide another frame through which to contemplate these issues. Within this exhibition we find symbols of weaponry transformed into visually seductive motifs, the daily news transformed into a ten metre long scroll and the beauty of our native flora used as a disguise to impart a much deeper message.”

Visit MRAG until 2 August to view the exhibition, or ‘walk through’ the virtual tour produced by Dominik Mersch Gallery HERE.
