‘Constellation Group No 3’, 2019, oil on linen, 140 x180 cm
‘The Ghosts of Analogue’ is a showcase of Jon’s recent works, featuring a collection of his signature paintings as well as a series of newly developed 3D printed works. His stunning layered landscapes are detailed with constellations of dots and grid lines reminiscent of codes, maps and data. ‘The Ghosts of Analogue’ also features a series of monochromatic 3D prints that echo the grid-like clusters of people in his paintings, using a new technique invented specifically to produce this series. These works further his examination of the influence of data and technology in contemporary societies. Often derived from contemporary urban environments among the likes of music raves and political protests, Cattapan’s works frame human figures in settings that suggest interaction with place and shared experience.
