Primary Lines
07.05. - 06.06.2026

Installation view of Cobi Cockburn, 'Primary Lines', 2026. Dominik Mersch Gallery.

Cobi Cockburn presents a new body of neon and glass work extending her enquiry into the visual language of light and line.

“Primary Lines’ considers light as material. Reducing the visual language to two elements – light and line – the work is shaped through encounter.

Light is active: it reveals and removes, creating moments of clarity while dissolving fixed form. Line marks direction, boundary, and measure, yet shifts with light and the viewer’s position. Together, they form a spatial field that resists resolution; understanding is not given but found through experience.

The works are intentionally reductive. Through repetition and restraint, attention turns to sensitivity, edges blur, planes disperse, thresholds hover between presence and absence. Light, as a universal medium, exceeds ownership and invites engagement. ‘Primary Lines’ considers existence as relational, formed through experience, suspended in memory, and carried forward in light.”
