Emryn Ingram-Shute is an emerging artist who works across all media. Considering her own affective reactions and vulnerabilities, she uses humour and play to address socio-political inequities with intuitive combinations of found objects and created forms. At its heart her practice seeks to break down dualistic boundaries and signifiers, finding ways of expressing the possibility that nothing is solid or separate. The mundane and the transcendental are indivisible and every moment is relational. Ingram-Shute’s work asks whether such potential can be realised through our encounters with physical objects and spatial assemblages, where surprising new connections are built via detailed material processes of deconstruction and re-composition. In this energetic field, artist, object, and audience, along with space, become creative places of work, activated by the exchange. Both tender and forceful, these works invite us to navigate our internal associations, and to feel our way beyond familiar understandings.
