Dominik Mersch Gallery is pleased to present the online exhibition ‘Between Terrain and Structures’, which considers landscape as both a visual and perceptual construct mediating the coexistence of human presence with the natural world.
The exhibition focuses on the distinction between terrain and structure as interrelated registers of the landscape’s material condition – its underlying composition, or the ‘body’ beneath the image. Between these registers emerges a liminal field in which perception becomes unsettled and form is subject to transformation. Bringing together a group of artists whose practices engage this threshold, the exhibition examines how the apparent stability of terrain as an object of representation is reconfigured through processes or memory and imagination.
