Dominik Mersch in panel for ‘Blockchain For The Arts?’ at Talk Contemporary

August 25, 2018

As part of the Talk Contemporary program at Sydney Contemporary next week, Copyright Agency presents the panel discussion ‘Blockchain For The Arts?’. Dominik will be exploring the role of this emerging technology in the contemporary art world alongside Baden Pailthorpe (artist), Alana Kushnir (curator/lawyer) and Sharion Orbell (ArtChain Global) with moderator Julie Ewington (curator/writer).

What is blockchain, exactly? And what might be its benefits for contemporary artists and galleries? Is it possible that this new shared digital register in the public domain might help manage problems such as faking, and assist with everyday logistical issues such as art transport and insurance? How is blockchain relevant in Australia? Or are we too early in the life of this technology to be sure?

The panel will take place on Friday 14 September 2pm – 3pm, at Track 12, Carriageworks.
