A new series of works by Cobi Cockburn will be featured in the solo exhibition Pink Moon at Canberra Glassworks from 01.08. – 22.09.24, curated by Aimee Frodsham. The artist’s exquisitely intricate light-based sculptural works merges her skills in kiln-formed glass with industrial processes such as neon, architectural glass, and steel to explore notions of temporality through the intermix of pink tones and geometric iconography.
For the last twenty years, Cobi has been exploring the emotional and spiritual connections to the colour white, investigating how abstraction, in combination with the seemingly endless shades of white, can evoke human emotion. Pink Moon marks a departure from her established palette. Here, she instead uses colour as a metaphor for the human experience of being and feeling, which still remains intentionally paired back to draw viewers in and create spaces to explore of consciousness.
Canberra Glassworks is an ACT Arts Centre located in the heritage-listed Kingston Powerhouse, containing state of the art workshops and a gallery that presents an annual program of curated exhibitions of work by Australia’s finest glass artists.
