Claudia Terstappen finalist in the 2019 Manningham Victorian Ceramic Art Award

July 25, 2019

Claudia Terstappen’s work ‘Red spiral’ has been selected as a finalist in the 2019 Manningham Victorian Ceramic Art Award. Established in 2009, the Award includes a $10,000 major prize and a $4,000 general acquisitions prize. This year, the Award will be judged by Eva Czernis-Ryl, Curator at the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS). Claudia’s ceramic works point to both the intrinsic properties of her material and the element of chance that accompanies the process of firing and glazing. Across both sculpture and photography, the relationship between landscape and memory continues to function as a core motif, producing vibrant and often whimsical works.

Claudia’s work will be on view at Manningham Art Gallery between Wednesday 14 August and Saturday 14 September 2019
