CATHERINE O’DONNELL Finalist in the Wynne Prize 2025 at the Art Gallery of NSW

May 7, 2025

Catherine O’Donnell has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious Wynne Prize 2025 at the Art Gallery of NSW. The finalist exhibition will be open to the public from 10.06. – 17.08.25.

Having recently embraced oil paint, Catherine brings a sophisticated and analytical eye to her series ‘Echoes of Home’, revitalising the urban landscapes that shape her source material – in this case, the 1960s suburban architecture of south-west Sydney – in an effort to “reframe the familiar.” The artist says: “I am drawn to the architecture of the area, particularly Liverpool and its surrounding suburbs,’ she says. ‘The old housing commission homes with the fibro cladding will always conjure up a feeling of home.”

Catherine’s painted work will also be the focus of her upcoming solo exhibition at Dominik Mersch Gallery, opening in July 2025.
