Bella La Spina has been selected as a finalist in the 2025 Northern Beaches Environmental Art and Design Prize, presented by Manly Art Gallery & Museum. Her work will be exhibited as part of the Visual Art category in a major group exhibition running from 01.08. – 14.09.25.
Now recognised as one of Australia’s leading prizes focused on environmental themes, the Environmental Art and Design Prize invites artists and designers from across the country to engage critically with urgent ecological issues. Through diverse and innovative practices, finalists explore subjects such as climate change, sustainability, biodiversity, and our evolving relationship with the natural world.
Bella’s finalist work, Margin, features a delicate hand-drawn image on silk, framed within a silk screen structure. Subtle yet conceptually rich, the piece reflects her ongoing interest in the boundaries between the seen and unseen – between memory, materiality, and landscape. Her practice often draws upon ecological and philosophical frameworks to offer poetic meditations on fragility and transformation.
