ANNE ZAHALKA and PETA CLANCY in ‘From all Points of the Southern Sky’ at the Southeast Museum of Photography, Florida

September 25, 2020

Anne Zahalka and Peta Clancy have been invited to exhibit in ‘From all Points of the Southern Sky’ at the Southeast Museum of Photography, Florida.

Zahalka’s hand-coloured and digitally-embellished archival photographs are drawn from romanticised depictions of nature in which the artist has inserted insidious evidence of human activity. Aluminium cans litter pastel-coloured landscapes, the habitats of native fauna are stripped bare, and painted backdrops blaze, rupturing an otherwise beatific aesthetic.⠀

Bangerang artist Clancy explores events that threatened the survival of her ancestors through glowing images that speak to submerged truths. Through processes of manually manipulating photographic prints and rephotographing them in order to layer the past and the present, she aims to bring to light hidden histories.

‘From all Points of the Southern Sky’ runs 22 September – 16 December 2020 at the Southeast Museum of Photography, Florida. Read more about the exhibition here.
