TINA HAVELOCK STEVENS  ‘Jamming with Strangers’ Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre

January 25, 2022

Tina Havelock Stevens is included in the exhibition ‘Jamming with Strangers’ at Casula Power House from 04.12.21 – 27.02.22. The exhibition highlights music communities as spaces of intimacy, nourishment, and social connection. For the exhibition Tina is showcasing ‘BETA SHOCKERS’ & ‘The Outside Is The Inside’. ⁣

‘BETA SHOCKERS’ is a mash-up video installation combining an improvised drumming soundtrack with live performance videos of famous self-professed ‘stage frighters’. The audience is invited to experience an ‘anxiety empathy loop’ that the audience endures, and ultimately use as a vehicle for self reflection. ⁣

‘The Outside is the Inside’ is an observational, experimental film documenting the crowd outside an intimate one-off Rolling Stones concert which took place in February 2003 at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney. The work is an observational portrait soaked in the shared collective fervour and spiritual transport of experiencing an international rock and roll legend with a sense of Sydney locality.⁣

Jamming with Strangers incorporates new artwork commissions, workshops, and live events. ⁣Read more.
